Windows Rt Printer Drivers Canon Install Update
Swipe in from the right and click on Settings, then choose "Change PC Settings", select "PC and devices", then "Devices" -- you should have a list of printers under "Printers". Did this solve your problem?
Sorry this didn't help. Just a bit more information. My printer is also a Canon MX all-in-one. I did check the Compatibility site and it says this printer is supported by RT 8.
My x64 PC with 8. Strange that the Surface no longer even detects the printer on the network. This and the fact that others are indicating their printers are detected either leads me to believe that this is not a driver issue but something with the Devices functionality of 8. Just got my Surface RT with 8.
Pretty strange what fixed it Here is what I did:. I then plugged a USB cable into my mx and connected that to my Surface.
So at least it could print using USB. I made this new one the default printer and checked what port it was using. I attempted to print a test page to this mx and it printed using wi-fi! Don't know if 8. Anyway, hope this helps you and anyone else having this problem. Please post back if this works for you. I disconnected the USB and tried to perform an add printer but the search tool devices and printer windows didn't find any printer. I tried to add a default networkprinter too but no way, no WSD port too.

Windows RT 8.1 after update no printing on Canon Pixma mx870
You can save yourself some time and frustration by checking the Surface RT. If you have a wireless printer or are trying to connect to a shared printer on your network, follow these steps. Fortunately, the desktop method for adding a printer works and actually seems more reliable than the Metro version. In addition, this method is the only one that will allow you to add 3rd party drivers on a Pro. You should now see the printer appear under Printers like the example below. This means that if all else fails, you can print directly to a USB printer. All you have to do is plug the USB cable from your printer into the USB port on your Surface then use the same steps as the wireless printer setup. To do that, follow these steps. Now when you print, the printer you just set as default will be the one your Surface tries to use first. Thanks for the tip.
